Run club in Christchurch
The Whippets Running Project is a New Zealand adult running club based in Auckland and Christchurch, with members elsewhere in the country and overseas. It connects social and competitive runners who race on road, track, trail and cross-country, and says it has a mix of abilities from national-level runners to people getting fit for a first half marathon. The main group session is a weekly all-welcome Sunday long run.
The club is a not-for-profit incorporated society affiliated with Athletics New Zealand, Athletics Canterbury and Athletics Auckland, so members can compete in those bodies' sanctioned events. The weekly all-welcome Sunday long run takes place in Christchurch, with locations shared each week; the Auckland run is currently paused. Senior membership runs for 12 months from the date of purchase and costs NZ$255 for the first year (including a Whippets x Pressio racing singlet) and NZ$170 for subsequent years; Under-20 membership is seasonal at NZ$240 for the first year and NZ$155 afterwards. Memberships cover both Auckland and Canterbury, and sign-up plus contact details are on the club website. Athletics NZ affiliated club (seniors, masters, half-marathon training, harriers / cross-country).
