Newton Road Runners is a road running club based at the Newton Arms in Newton Farm, Glasgow, started in 2016. It describes itself as inclusive and open to runners of all abilities, with a mix of speed, distance and development sessions. Typical runs range from short structured repetitions to routes of around 7-14km, with a separate development group for those building up or returning from injury.
The club trains up to three times a week, on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, and all sessions are open to members. Monday is a structured speed session of short repeated efforts. Tuesday has a long route of roughly 10-14km, which tends to attract the quicker runners, and a short route of roughly 7-10km that accommodates all paces. The Development Running Group (DRG) runs on the same nights as the other groups with its own route on Tuesdays, offering less intense sessions for building foundations or returning from injury; there are no entry criteria, though the club suggests being able to run 5k in around 36 minutes and invites anyone unsure to get in touch. Thursday sessions are flexible, usually local laps or 15 minutes out and back, with everyone starting and finishing in the same place. Session times and membership costs are not stated.
