About

Newent Runners is a running club based in Newent, Gloucestershire, open to runners of all abilities. It runs one coached session a week plus informal social runs on most other days, with routes and distances varied to suit different paces. Sessions are open to non-members as well as members, and the club also runs 0-5k beginners courses.

Weekly sessions include Monday, Tuesday (early and evening) and Thursday social runs, a coached session on Wednesday, Newent parkrun on Saturday and a Sunday social run. Only the Wednesday session is coached; all other runs are informal, often but not always led by a qualified leader, and participants take part at their own risk. All paces are encouraged, though it helps to be able to run 5k as this is usually the minimum distance. The Wednesday coached session costs ยฃ1 for members and ยฃ2 for non-members. A 10-week 0-5k beginners course runs on Wednesday evenings at a cost of ยฃ10, with the 2025 course starting on 4 June. You do not need to be a member to join a social run or training session. Weekly route details and last-minute changes are posted in the club Facebook group; queries can be sent through the Contact Us page or asked in the Facebook group. Hi-viz and a head torch are required in winter months. The club has a committee and a team of Leaders in Running Fitness, with Matt Cole as lead coach. England Athletics affiliated club.
