Run club in Gloucester
Severn Athletic Club is a running club based in Gloucester, founded in 1994, which now focuses mainly on road running and cross country. It welcomes male and female runners of any ability, from those running for fitness to members chasing a PB. Weekly sessions are structured interval and hill training, with members also meeting at local parkruns on Saturdays.
Training is held on Monday at 17:45 (interval training, such as 750m reps, pyramids and 3k efforts) at Barnett Way, Barnwood, GL4 3RT with parking at Sainsbury's, and Wednesday at 17:30 (interval or hill training, including 180m hill sprints, 500m/1km reps, 2.4k efforts or Kenyan hills) at Kenilworth Avenue, GL2 0QN with on-road parking. No booking is needed and runners can attend either session for a trial; arriving 5 minutes before the start is advised. Members also meet at Gloucester City or Kingsway parkrun most Saturday mornings, typically at 08:45 with a warm-up lap beforehand. The club competes in UKA affiliated road races and in the Birmingham and Gloucestershire Cross Country Leagues, and is affiliated to Gloucestershire AAA and England Athletics. Membership for 1 April 2026-27 (payable by end of May): club membership plus England Athletics £45, club only £22, new member including vest £58, couples £40 each, under 23 £35, new under 23 including vest £48, half-year new member with vest £47, half-year without vest £34, new member with vest if EA already paid £35. Fees can be paid online via a link sent by email. A printable membership form can be brought to a training session, or an editable version emailed to severnathleticclub@gmail.com. Benefits include coached sessions, £2 off UKA affiliated race entries for England Athletics registered members, club contributions towards cross country leagues, road relays and the Cotswold Way Relay, and one London Marathon place each year.
