Run club in Newcastle Upon Tyne
Newcastle University Athletics and Cross Country (NUAXC) is the university's athletics and cross country team, based in Newcastle upon Tyne. It caters for both track athletes and cross country runners, with weekly sessions during term time including track work, group runs, threshold sessions and a Sunday long run. The club also organises the annual Cowbell 5K on Town Moor.
Training runs in term time only, with the latest details announced by the captains in the club Facebook group. Running sessions are split between athletics (track) and cross country (track, group runs, threshold sessions and a Sunday long run) and take place at Gateshead Outdoor Track, the University Sports Centre and Exhibition Park. The club also runs non-running strength and conditioning and circuits sessions at the Sports Centre, which require an NUAXC S&C pass. The club hosts a UKA-certified 5K, the Cowbell 5K, on Town Moor each March.
