Kirkstall Harriers is a Leeds-based running and social club active in road, cross country and fell running, affiliated for all three disciplines. It is for senior runners only (over 17), as the club has no junior section. Training runs go out from Kirkstall Leisure Centre twice a week and cater for a range of abilities, with members also competing in leagues, relays and an internal club championship.
Training is on Monday and Wednesday evenings at 18:50, starting from the bottom of the steps outside Kirkstall Leisure Centre; the training schedule page should be checked for alterations to the normal pattern. Newcomers can attend a couple of trial sessions before joining, but the club asks that runners can cover at least 4-5 miles at around 12 min/mile pace. Dogs are not allowed on training runs. Annual membership is £35 full, £20 second claim and £10 social, with the fee including England Athletics registration (currently £18); new members can buy a club vest for £15. Joining is done online by bank transfer, or by printed form with cash handed to a committee member on a training night. The club competes in the PECO Winter Cross Country League, Yorkshire Vets League, Calderdale Way, Bradford Millennium Way and Leeds Country Way relays and summer evening cross country relays, and hosts the Kirkstall Abbey 7 each September/October.
