Run club in Harlow
Harlow Athletic Club is an England Athletics accredited track and field club based at Mark Hall Sports Centre in Harlow, founded in 1963. It caters for all ages and abilities, from newcomers and juniors to veterans and competitive athletes, and includes a wheelchair racing section. Senior (18+) sessions run on the track on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, covering sprints, middle distance and cross-country as well as jumps and throws.
Senior training takes place Tuesday and Thursday 18:00โ19:30; the timetable is a guide and can change with the season, competitions and coach availability. Middle distance groups train for 400m to 1500m (some athletes 3000m/5000m), with winter training focused on cross-country and occasional off-track endurance sessions ahead of the Essex Cross-Country League; the club also covers throws and jumps. Some Saturday and Sunday groups (sprinters, hurdlers and throwers) are by invitation only. Walk-ins are not permitted: prospective members must book a taster/trial session in advance (first trial free) and register fully before training, and there is a waiting list that can run from weeks to months. Annual registration is ยฃ50 for seniors (18+), ยฃ30 for university and second-claim members, plus quarterly track fees collected by direct debit (1 March, 1 June, 1 September, 1 December) of ยฃ32 for one session a week or ยฃ64 for two. There is no club telephone number; enquiries go through the website contact links to the club secretary (Adam Garrett) or membership secretary (Robyn Bond), with wheelchair queries to Claire Chiassaro.
