Run club in Bristol
Great Western Runners is a Bristol running club based at Redland Green Club, founded in 1984 and now with over 200 members. It welcomes runners of all abilities, from beginners to those racing competitively in road, trail and cross country. The weekly Wednesday club night offers 4, 6, 8 and 10 mile route options, with winter runs on lit roads around Redland, Westbury and Clifton and summer routes across the Clifton Suspension Bridge into Ashton Court and Leigh Woods.
Club sessions are on Wednesday at 19:00, meeting outside in the outdoor seating area if dry or upstairs in Redland Green Club if wet; first-timers are advised to arrive shortly before 19:00 to be talked through the route options. Groups run 4, 6, 8 and 10 miles, with the 4 mile beginners group led by a qualified Leader in Running Fitness. Visitors can run free with no obligation before joining. The membership year runs 1 April to 31 March; for 2026-2027 senior membership is £50 and family membership (two adults at the same address) is £80, with half-year options from 1 October of £37 and £63, and joiners from 1 January receiving 15 months for the cost of 12. Membership is bought through the online shop and includes England Athletics registration. Dogs are not permitted on runs or in the club house.
