Adult sessions cover a steady club run of about 5-6 miles on Monday, a track session at Churchill Playing Fields in Whitley Bay on Wednesday with an alternative speed session in Gosforth for those who cannot attend the track, speed/strength endurance on Saturday morning and a social long run on Sunday; start locations for the Wednesday speed session and Sunday run vary through the year, so contact the club for details. Runners are placed in speed groups, and the club asks that new members can run at least 4-5 miles at 10 minute mile pace or better (minimum pace for the Monday run is 10 minute miles). Prospective members can attend a couple of sessions free of charge and should speak to a club captain or group leader before the session starts. Membership runs from 1 October to 30 September and the fee includes England Athletics athlete registration (currently ยฃ17), all club training sessions, entry to selected regional and national competitions, inter-club events and social events.
