Edinburgh Running Network (ERN) is a running club in Edinburgh, founded in 2004, open to runners aged 18 and over of all abilities. Sessions are led by run leaders (apart from the self-guided Sunday run), include warm-up, mobilising and stretching, and regroup along the route so no-one is left behind. Weekday sessions last around one to one and a half hours, and Sunday runs often finish at a cafe.
Weekly sessions rotate between steady runs, hills and speed (Monday), chatty social steady runs in three pace groups (Tuesday), and pacing and drills work (Thursday); Sunday is a daytime self-guided run on a pre-plotted route with pace groups agreed on the day. Tuesday pace groups: Group 1 around 10k at 5-6 min/km, Group 2 around 7-10k at 6-7 min/km, Group 3 around 5-7km at 7-7:30 min/km. Club training is aimed at those already running continuously for 5k and beyond, while complete beginners are signposted to jogscotland beginner and intermediate classes. Membership is £20 per year, running from 1 September to the end of August, and includes 10% discounts at Run 4 It and Up and Running and reduced scottishathletics fees; there is no juniors section. Join online via the registration form on the Contact Us page. Session sign-up is through the link in the members-only weekly newsletter and the ERN club page on Spond. Visitors can try a session first by contacting ernenquiries@gmail.com; training questions go to erntraining@gmail.com. scottishathletics affiliated club.
