All senior sessions are led by UK Athletics qualified volunteer coaches, with training plans published up to a month in advance and individual schedules available. The Endurance Group suits runners who can cover 5k in around 30 minutes or quicker; the Performance Group is aimed at those running 5k around 22 minutes or quicker and is largely made up of Durham University students and graduates; the Transition Group is a social and fitness group for new runners and returners; the Multi-Event Group covers track up to 1500m, jumps, throws and multi-events. Beginners are catered for by a 10-week Couch to 5K programme which runs in blocks through the year and is advertised on the website and social media; free taster sessions are offered. Members can move between groups. Internal club events include a handicapped 5K time trial on the second Tuesday of each month, the Mackay Mile in May, a 4-mile men-v-women handicap, a 1-mile race on the A167 cycle path, and the Garlic & Bluebell 5K trail race at Maiden Castle; these are free to enter. The club covers entry costs for North Eastern Harrier League cross-country and pays entry fees for certain other events. Membership is around 300. The junior membership waiting list is closed.
