Run club in Melbourne
Diamond Valley Athletic Club (DVAC) is an athletics club based at Willinda Park in Greensborough, Victoria, covering running, walking, throwing and jumping events for all skill levels and abilities. Its distance running arm, The Striders, is a recreational running group that mixes structured training with social running and accepts runners of all abilities and ages. The club competes in the Athletics Victoria Shield summer league and also holds winter cross country training.
The Striders recreational distance running group meets at the Willinda track on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 17:30 unless otherwise indicated, and training is shaped around the group's goals, such as preparation for a marathon, other events or club track events; a general training program is published each month as a downloadable PDF on the club website, with separate programs for those running Melbourne and those who are not. Summer season club training at Willinda Park runs Monday 18:00-20:30, Tuesday 16:30-20:30, Wednesday 18:00-20:30 and Thursday 16:30-20:30, while winter cross country training is Tuesday and Thursday 16:30-18:30 at Willinda Park and Wednesday 16:30-18:30 at Eltham Lower Park; event-specific sessions should be arranged with a club administrator or coach. Joining the Striders and using club facilities during training hours requires DVAC membership, which does not by itself allow competing at Athletics Victoria races; 2026/7 season registrations opened on 7 April and membership fees and Athletics Victoria membership types are set out on the Join page, with membership upgrades handled directly by Athletics Victoria. A Striders Facebook page is used for group updates, and contact details are on the club website. Athletics Victoria athletics club.
