Run club in Hove
Brighton & Hove FrontRunners (BHFR) is an LGBTQIA+ and ally running club founded in October 2018 and part of the international FrontRunners network, with over 100 members. It is a mixed-ability group whose sessions are planned to keep runners together. Typical club nights start with introductions, then a warm-up with a run leader followed by a choice of interval training or a 30- or 40-minute out-and-back run at your own pace.
Weekly sessions are on Wednesday evenings from the promenade shelter by the King Alfred Leisure Centre, offering interval training or out-and-back runs of 30 minutes (15 out, 15 back) or 40 minutes (20 out, 20 back), plus a weekly Sunday run at varying locations around Brighton and Hove. The first Wednesday of the month is usually followed by a club social from 20:00, and the club meets for a group parkrun once a month in Brighton, Hove or the wider Sussex area, as well as entering local races and a club championship series. The club recommends being able to run 30 minutes without a break, and runs Couch to 5k programmes twice a year (January and May); past editions cost £20–£25 over nine weeks on Wednesdays at 19:00, starting on the prom behind the King Alfred. The first three runs are free; membership for 2025/2026 is £45 full annual (club £22 plus England Athletics affiliation £23) or £22 club only, with member benefits including led runs, socials and retail discounts. New runners are asked to complete the online form before their first Wednesday; contact info@bhfrontrunners.org.uk, or welfare@bhfrontrunners.org.uk for help with fees if on a low income. England Athletics affiliated club.
