The club runs regular beginner training programmes for people totally new to running, and says it caters for all abilities; prospective members can contact the club beforehand if they are nervous. Membership runs from April to March, with Adult membership (including England Athletics affiliation, giving race entry discounts and counting towards the club's London Marathon allocation), 2nd claim membership, and separate Youth and Junior membership. Online membership is under review; in the meantime a membership form can be printed and emailed to the membership secretary at membership@benfleetrunningclub.co.uk, sent via the club's Facebook page, or handed in with the fee on a club night. The club organises the Benfleet 15 race and takes part in cross country, the Essex Way Relay and club grand prix competitions, and publishes monthly club training plans.
