About

Bendigo University Athletics Club (BUAC) is a family-friendly running club in Bendigo, Victoria, established in 1981 and described as the city's biggest running club. Members span a wide range of ages, abilities and levels of commitment, and the club is affiliated with Athletics Bendigo and Athletics Victoria. Its main activity is a winter cross country season of timed handicap races in bushland around Bendigo, with 100 to 200 people attending each Saturday and afternoon tea afterwards.

Winter cross country runs take place on most Saturdays from 2pm between March and September, held at varying bush locations around Bendigo over four distances: 500m, 1km, 3km and a longer race averaging about 7km. A handicap system is used so any participant can win. From October to March the club takes part in the Athletics Bendigo summer track competition, and members also enter wider Athletics Bendigo and Athletics Victoria events such as cross country relays and the Half Marathon Festival. New members are welcome; in winter the first run is free, and you simply turn up on the day with running gear after checking the calendar. Membership fees and uniform details are listed on the club website, and the president can arrange a club singlet for summer track; contact details are on the club website.
