Belper Harriers

Belper Harriers — a run club in Belper. England Athletics affiliated club. Activities: cross country, hill fell, road running, track field, trail running.

Tuesday is the main club night: in winter, road runs at 19:00 from The Market Place, Belper (parking at Coppice Car Park), with groups of about 5 miles at 11-12 min/mile up to 9 miles at 7:30 min/mile; from around April to September the Tuesday 19:00 runs are off-road from the same meeting point and are slightly shorter and slower. Also in winter there are weekly 18:30 social off-road runs starting from a different local pub each week (not from Belper Market Place), and approximately monthly 19:00 whole-club pub runs with a chip cob afterwards for £5, typically 4-7 miles across about three groups. In summer there is an approximately monthly timed handicap from the Bluebell at Farnah Green, a 4.4 mile route with staggered starts from 19:00 to about 19:40, and approximately monthly local free summer league races at 19:00 (members only, club vest required). Thursday has year-round 18:30 speed sessions at rotating venues around Belper, usually finished by about 19:20, and on the first Thursday of the month a track session at Rutland Sports Park, Ilkeston, at 19:00, costing £2 cash and finishing by 20:00. Routes and venues are confirmed in advance on the club calendar and via WhatsApp Community announcements. Newcomers can run a few times before joining but must complete the New Runner Contact Details form first; membership renews annually, expiring 31 March, via a login on the club website. Separate paid strength and conditioning sessions for runners are arranged by contacting Wykeham at w.bosworth@hotmail.co.uk. The club is also on Instagram and Facebook.
