Run club in Shipley
Baildon Runners is a running club formed in 1984 and based at Baildon Rugby & Cricket Sports Club, with around 250 adult members and membership open to over-18s only. It caters for everyone from complete beginners to competitive runners, combining local and national competition with a social atmosphere. Thursday evening is the main club night, with runners split into several pace groups that regroup regularly and usually finish with a drink at a local bar.
Membership costs £40 for the year to the end of March 2027, including the £23 England Athletics affiliation fee, and covers all club sessions; racing in club colours saves £2 on most race entries, and club kit is sold separately through the members store. Joining is handled through the MemberMojo members portal — submit the form, the membership team reviews it, then payment is requested by email. Prospective members can try two sessions for free and are advised to email welcome@baildonrunners.co.uk to confirm where the next session is being held, as the club occasionally meets elsewhere. Thursday social runs are split into 5-6 groups from faster to steadier runners, with all groups stopping to regroup. Sessions are led by qualified England Athletics Run Leaders or Coaches (over 25 of them), all DBS checked, and routes are risk assessed; hi-visibility reflective clothing is required when running in the dark. Winter routes use well-lit pavements, with off-road routes across Baildon Moor when light permits. The club also runs periodic Couch to 5k programmes and a Summer Championship series of local races.
