Run club in Oak Bay
Athletics Victoria (AVIC) is a volunteer-led track and field club in Greater Victoria, British Columbia, offering programming for all ages and abilities from Junior Development through to Masters and para-athletics. Running disciplines include sprints, middle distance, hurdles and wheelchair racing, alongside jumps, pole vault and throws. Adult sessions are structured coached track training, with conditioning work in fall/winter and event-specific technical work in spring/summer.
Training groups are organised by discipline and age: the U18/Seniors and Masters group (ages 16-80+) trains three times a week year-round, with fall/winter sessions focused on conditioning at UVic's CARSA Fieldhouse and spring/summer sessions becoming discipline-specific at Centennial Stadium. Running options cover sprints, middle distance and sprint/distance hurdles, and wheelchair racing training (all distances, open to all ages) runs 2-3 times a week at Centennial Stadium. Athletes can compete at five Vancouver Island track and field meets between April and June, the BC Club Provincial Championships in July, and, for groups aged 16+, invitational meets elsewhere in Canada and the U.S. Registration is through the "Register Now" link on the club website; the club is entirely volunteer-led, and contact details are on the club website. No specific weekday training times are published for the adult groups. Athletics Canada affiliated club (via AthleticsReg).
