Run club in Worksop
Worksop Harriers Athletic Club is an England Athletics affiliated club in Worksop, Nottinghamshire, covering endurance running, cross country, and track and field for seniors and juniors. Senior endurance sessions are coached and split by ability, with runners typically running three or more times a week and covering parkrun/5k in around 35 minutes or faster, though the club says this is not a strict rule. The club also organises the Worksop Halloween Half Marathon.
Senior endurance training runs on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Tuesday is structured interval training (speed work through to faster endurance intervals), scaled to a wide range of abilities; sessions are held on the track at Worksop College in the lighter months and move to a mix of hill and road-based intervals in winter. Thursday is a distance run of approximately 50-60 minutes from varying locations around Worksop, split into pace groups from around 7 to 11 minute mile, mainly on roads in winter. The first Thursday of each month is a dedicated newcomers night starting from Manton Sports Club at 18:15. Runners may try sessions with no obligation to join; because locations vary, the club asks people to check current whereabouts via its Facebook or Instagram pages or by emailing [email protected]. Membership is paid through the England Athletics portal: senior first claim (age 20+) £43 total (£20 club fee plus £23 EA registration), senior student or state pension age £31, second claim member £13, non-active member £8, with 30% off club membership for family membership. New members can join from 1 January and receive 15 months for the price of 12 via the online WHAC membership form or a downloadable form emailed to [email protected]. Members can compete in North Mids XC, local inter-club XC, regional road relays, the Notts Summer League road race series and a senior club Grand Prix. England Athletics affiliated club.
