Run club in Woodstock
Woodstock Harriers AC is a community running club based in Woodstock, Oxfordshire, drawing members from the town and surrounding villages. Originally formed in 1924 and reformed in the early 1980s, it now has over 100 competing members plus around 30 non-competing members. Sessions cater for all abilities, from first 5K runners to marathon, cross-country and ultra competitors, with group social runs, a long run and a coached effort session.
Weekly running includes a Tuesday effort session led by Roger Bradley (for example 12 x approximately 400m off 1.5 minutes, with a 10-minute warm-up and multiple mixed-ability groups), Thursday and Saturday social runs of roughly 50 and 60-70 minutes, and a Sunday long run where members often arrange groups to match ability and distance, with arrangements checked each week via WhatsApp. Effort sessions move between Blenheim Park and the Marlborough Secondary School grass track depending on the season (summer sessions at the school track, returning to Blenheim Park from 22 September). A Couch to 5K programme is offered for beginners with supporting coaches. The club competes in the Oxfordshire Athletics Association Road Race Grand Prix, Mota-vation series and Oxfordshire Cross-Country League, and runs a club road handicap competition over 18 races. It also organises the Woodstock 12 and Woodstock 4 races. The club has WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram groups. The club has no junior section, though children of members may attend if a parent or guardian is present and responsible. England Athletics affiliated club.
