Run club in Wantage
White Horse Harriers AC is a running and athletics club based in Wantage and Grove, Oxfordshire, with around 200 members of all ages and abilities. It combines social running on local roads, lanes and trails, including the Ridgeway National Trail, with coached structured training and competition in track and field, road running, cross country and ultra distance events. Sunday social runs are split into two or three distance and pace groups so members can run and chat together.
Sunday social runs start at 08:55 from the Court Hill Centre, Wantage OX12 9NE, with two or three distance/pace options. Tuesday sessions at 18:30 are coached structured training including speed intervals and ABC (agility, balance, coordination) at Wantage Leisure Centre, occasionally at Tilsley Park Athletics Track in Abingdon where an entry fee applies. Thursdays at King Alfred's Academy, West Site offer two 18:30 options: RunWantage, a 6-8km consolidation run at chatty pace led by Run Leaders, and a one-hour coached structured session of intervals, hill repetitions or tempo running. Newcomers who can jog about 30 minutes are pointed to the Thursday Welcome group, which builds up to 50 minutes over several weeks; absolute beginners can join JogWantage, a Couch to 5k course held each spring for those aged 16 and over. The club welcomes athletes aged 8 upwards. Prospective members are advised to try a couple of weeks before joining, then complete membership via membermojo with payment by bank transfer; fees are listed on the Membership page.
