Run club in Peterbrough
Werrington Joggers is a running club in Peterborough, founded in 1984 and a registered charity, with junior and senior membership of more than 250. It welcomes runners of any age or ability, from complete novices to experienced competitive runners. Tuesday club nights start with announcements and then split into groups for runs of various distances and speeds, while Sunday mornings are longer social cross-country and trail runs of roughly 6 to 12 miles, often with shorter alternatives and a practice of looping back so nobody runs alone.
Sessions are the Tuesday senior club night at Werrington Sports Centre, Sunday morning long runs at varying locations listed in the club diary (start times are prompt, with a guide to distance and difficulty published for each run), and a series of 1.5 mile handicap races held on Thursday nights around Cuckoos Hollow, about a mile from the leisure centre, in summer and winter โ dates and times are announced each Tuesday night and on Facebook. Members compete in the Cambs Road League, Frostbite League, Peterborough Grand Prix and club championship events, and many also attend the Peterborough parkrun at Ferry Meadows on Saturdays at 09:00. New runners can simply turn up on a Tuesday and make themselves known; a rota of New Runners Champions and qualified coaches supports newcomers in their first weeks. Joining and renewal details are on the Join or Renew page; members receive retailer discounts (More Mile 20%, Start Fitness 15%, High5 30%). Junior section contacts listed are Tim Cook (07793 906746) and Louise Richardson (07732 407070). England Athletics affiliated club.
