Thame Runners is a mixed-ability running club based in Thame, Oxfordshire, meeting mainly at the Racquets Fitness Centre. It caters for runners from those who have completed a first 5k to marathon runners, with structured sessions such as intervals, speedwork and long runs. Runs are held in multiple pace groups, each led by a Run Leader who keeps the group together.
Sessions are run in pace groups, each with a Run Leader, and include easy/social runs, street runs, trail runs (SWET), fartleks, speedwork and long runs. Monday groups range from Freshers (11:00–13:00 min/mile, 3–3.5 miles, with a 18:30 Freshers 1 start) through Steady and Medium groups to a Fast group (under 7:30 min/mile, 7 miles); Monday runners should manage about 12 min/mile or quicker. Wednesday winter street runs suit 8:00–8:30 min/mile or faster; summer SWET runs have two groups (4.5–5.5 miles and 6–7 miles) from a local pub, followed by an optional drink. Sunday long runs are 10–11 miles with a suggested minimum 9:30 min/mile pace and rotate between Chinnor Village Centre (1st and 3rd Sunday), Racquets in Thame (2nd and 4th) and Hill Road Car Park, Watlington (5th). A 10-week Couch to 5k programme is run regularly, and members are encouraged to enter a Club Championship of local races from 5k to half marathon. Locations can change, so members use the club email list or WhatsApp group; guest runners are welcome but should email in advance. Contact and joining details are on the Join/Contact page, and the club also has a Facebook page. No membership cost is stated. England Athletics affiliated club.
