Run club in Epsom
Tadworth AC is a road and cross-country running club based in Tadworth, Surrey, formed in the early 1980s and affiliated to England Athletics. It caters for runners of all ages and abilities, from beginners working towards a first 5k or 10k to marathon and ultra runners. Sessions are coach- and run-leader-led and effort-based, so groups train and finish together, and the club competes in the Surrey Road League and Surrey Cross Country League.
The autumn/winter programme has three weekly slots: Tuesday quality and effort sessions (15-minute warm-up and drills, 30-minute main effort block, 15-minute cool-down) at rotating well-lit venues including Waterer Gardens, Epsom Downs and Horton Lane; a track session at Poole Road Track, West Ewell on the third Wednesday of each month, which replaces that week's Tuesday session; and a Thursday Zone 2 conversational base run of 45-60 minutes on road routes, sometimes finishing at a pub. Efforts are set by Rate of Perceived Exertion rather than fixed paces, and separate marathon and non-marathon options are given in some track and interval sessions. An opt-in development pathway pairing runners with a dedicated leader is announced as coming soon. Members also run the Banstead Woods and Nonsuch Park parkruns, and the club organises the Tadworth 10 race on the first Sunday in January on Epsom Downs.
