Run club in Worksop
Rother Valley Swallows is a running club based in Aston, near Sheffield, founded in 1987 and affiliated to England Athletics. It welcomes all abilities, from absolute beginners to experienced athletes, and covers road running, cross country and road relays. Group runs take place twice a week on scenic routes of mixed terrain, with distances and locations varying each week.
The club runs on Tuesday evenings from Aston Academy, Aughton Road, Swallownest, with routes varying by training needs, ability and weather, and on Sunday mornings at 09:00 from a location that changes weekly, with long and shorter route options and a range of paces from gentle jogging to harder efforts; members who supply a mobile number are told the Sunday location each week. A circuit training session for members is also held on Wednesdays at 18:00 at Aston Leisure Centre, costing £4, or £3 for members aged 16-18 and over 60. Membership is £35 full (including England Athletics affiliation), £30 for over 60s, £16 social/circuits and £11 social/circuits for 16-18s or over 60s, with prices effective from 1 April 2024; England Athletics affiliation is needed to enter races such as the Road Race League and cross country.
