Run club in REDCAR
Redcar Running Club is a club established in 1986, based at Redcar Cricket Club on the Yorkshire coast, with around 100 members. It welcomes runners of all ages and abilities, from occasional parkrunners to marathon and ultramarathon runners, but has no provision for juniors. Sessions include steady club runs plus intervals, lactic threshold work and hill repeats.
Membership costs £23 per year, which includes affiliation to England Athletics and entry to the club championship. There is no weekly fee for running with the club, though track sessions (at Lawrence Jackson School, Guisborough, or Middlesbrough Sports Village) incur a charge for track use. Members pay reduced race entry fees and may get discounts at local running shops; a club race vest and hoodie are available to buy. Newcomers can try a no-obligation run by coming to the Cricket Club on Kirkleatham Street on a Wednesday from about 18:15 for an 18:30 start. New members go through a one-month probationary period, which also acts as a free trial. The club has a qualified coach and a chairman, and there is a contact form on the website, though the site states it is no longer monitored regularly and directs people to the club's Facebook page for current information.
