Run club in Tamworth
Peel Road Runners is a running club in Tamworth, founded in 1991, running on local roads, paths and tracks. Membership ranges from people who run to keep fit to those competing in road, trail, fell and ultra running. Social club runs are around 6 miles (10k), using lit road-based winter routes and off-road trail routes in summer.
Social club runs take place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, meeting at 18:45 for a 19:00 start, covering about 6 miles (10k); the club recommends being comfortable with that distance before joining in. Some Thursday sessions are structured, for example a hills session at Bolehall. The club competes in the Burton & District Summer League in summer and the Derby Runner Cross Country League (Derby/Staffs Division) in winter, and helps organise the Gate Gallop in aid of St Giles Hospice. Annual membership is ยฃ37 including England Athletics affiliation, or ยฃ60 in the first year which includes a club vest; club nights themselves are free and newcomers are advised to attend at least four club runs before joining. Contact: membership@peelroadrunners.co.uk for membership, secretary@peelroadrunners.co.uk for general enquiries. A separate walking group also meets on Tuesdays. England Athletics affiliated club.
