Newburgh Dunes Running Club (NDRC) is a social running club based in Newburgh, Aberdeenshire, formed in 2015 as a focal point for local runners. It is open to runners of all levels and covers trail runs, road runs and races of various lengths, plus run training. Club training runs on Tuesday and Thursday evenings with an additional Thursday lunchtime session.
Tuesday evening sessions are usually intervals, split into a Main Group and a Confidence & Recovery Group; Thursday evenings are usually a social run with approximately 6-8km, 10km and 13km distance options. Both evening sessions last about an hour and follow a cycle of training programmes, subject to coach availability. The Thursday lunchtime session is 60 minutes and participants may leave early for work or personal commitments. Evening sessions meet in Gordon Park near the tennis courts in summer and at the Ellon Academy campus in winter, with venue changes announced on Facebook and in the monthly newsletter. Anyone over 11 is welcome at training; under-16s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Membership is £20 per year (1 November to 31 October), with discounted fees for new members joining from 1 May and free membership from 1 September; a discounted training t-shirt is available through the club shop for £10. Membership includes free club training, a members-only Facebook page, discounted Scottish Athletics membership (£23 instead of £53 at 2026 prices), retail discounts with SportsShoes.com, Run4It and Total Endurance, and entry into the club London Marathon ballot.
