Run club in Edmonton
The Edmonton Columbians is a non-profit track and field club in Edmonton, Alberta, with membership open to children, youth and adults, including Masters athletes. It offers coaching across all running and field events, with an emphasis on team work and competition. Adults train in the "U16 and older" group, with sessions covering general training, sprints, hurdles, jumps, mid-distance and throws depending on the season and venue.
Training is organised by age group; adults train with the "U16 and Older" group. In the fall season (8 September - 29 October) that group trains Monday to Thursday 17:00-19:00 at Huskie Field. For the indoor season, sessions are spread across several alternate venues because of the Kinsmen Sport Centre renovation: Monday general training 17:00-19:00 and Thursday general training 17:00-19:00 at the Edmonton EXPO Centre (Hall A), Tuesday general training 17:30-19:00 at Commonwealth Community Rec Centre and 17:00-19:00 at the EXPO Centre, Wednesday sprints, hurdles and horizontal jumps at Foote Field Dome in 19:00-20:15 and 20:15-21:30 slots, and Thursday mid-distance training 17:30-19:00 at Coronation Rec Centre; throws sessions also run on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The outdoor season starts in April at Rollie Miles Athletic Grounds, with the U16-and-older group training Monday to Thursday 17:00-19:00 and meeting near the high jump area. All athletes must hold a current Athletics Alberta membership and complete the club's online registration, with fees either paid or covered by a payment plan; registration and contact details are on the club website. Athletics Canada affiliated club (via AthleticsReg; Distance, Middle Distance).
