Edinburgh University Hare and Hounds, known as the Haries, is the university's cross country, hill, road and long-distance running club, established in 1890. It is aimed at students of all abilities, from those who run occasionally to international-level athletes. Members train and race together, with competition against other universities and a strong social side.
The club covers cross country, hill, road and long-distance running, and races in Scottish Universities, East District and BUCS competitions. It states it welcomes runners of all abilities, including those with disabilities, and asks anyone with a disability to contact the captains to discuss how to accommodate them; alternative formats of club information can be requested from the webmaster. Socials are a regular part of the club, including Wednesday socials. To join, the site directs people to the Facebook group, the members WhatsApp group, or simply coming along to a run or a Wednesday social. The only timetable published is a Freshers Week programme; no membership cost is stated.
