East End Road Runners (EERR) is a road running club based in Newham, East London, affiliated to UK Athletics and England Athletics. It takes members of all abilities, from complete beginners to experienced runners, and states that members of different abilities train together where possible. Sessions are led by qualified coaches and run leaders, with around 200 members and an active volunteering and club-trip culture.
The club meets three times a week: a coached speedwork session on the 400m outdoor track at Terence McMillan Stadium on Tuesdays (about 3-4 miles, with a track fee of £3 per session for members and £4 for non-members), a steady or fartlek road and park run of 7 miles on Thursdays (option to extend to 9 miles or other sessions for more advanced runners), and two steady-paced road runs of 6 miles and up on Sundays, with the earlier 08:00 start for more experienced runners and those training for half marathon distance and above. Sunday sessions may include hill running, race-pace practice or time trials depending on the time of year, and roughly every six weeks the track session is a 1.5 mile time trial or a Cooper Test. Anyone over 18 can join, and interested runners may try a session free before committing. Annual membership starts at £32 for new members, including a cotton t-shirt or running vest, or £20 for second-claim members already registered with England Athletics elsewhere; the membership year runs 1 April to 31 March, and those joining in January, February or March who have never registered with England Athletics get up to three months free. Membership is completed via an online form on the website, and benefits include discounted race entry, coaching advice, a weekly newsletter, a volunteer points system and entry to the London Marathon ballot. Changing facilities and toilets are next to the track; there is free parking outside the leisure centre, the nearest stations are Plaistow (District line) and Prince Regent (DLR), and buses 147, 262, 300, 376 and 473 serve the club.
