About

Blaydon Harrier & Athletics Club is a Gateshead-area athletics and running club (charity number 1138216) offering coaching and competition for everyone aged 9 and above, with separate senior endurance, hurdles and throws groups. It describes itself as friendly and inclusive and welcomes novices as well as experienced athletes. Senior endurance sessions are coached by volunteer England Athletics qualified coaches and leaders, and members compete in road, cross country and track and field.

Training takes place on weekday evenings at Blaydon Leisure Centre, where the club has exclusive use of the running track and access to the centre's toilets; coached groups include senior endurance, hurdles and throws, plus induction sessions for new members. Prospective members can try four weeks of taster sessions before committing, and joining is done through the "Join us" section of the website; a membership secretary handles memberships. Members also receive discounted Blaydon Leisure Centre membership giving access to the gym and changing rooms. The club organises the annual Blaydon Race, a road race from Newcastle to Blaydon held every 9 June, and arranges social activities such as parkrun meet-ups and trips to other clubs' races. Specific session days, times and fees are not stated in the available text. England Athletics affiliated club.
