Run club in Bedford
Bedford & County Athletic Club is an athletics club based at Bedford International Athletics Stadium, offering coaching and training across all track and field disciplines and in distance running. It caters for juniors through to adults and masters, with squads for middle distance, cross country and road running as well as field events. Training is organised into coached groups, and members compete in league, county and national competition.
Adult and school-year-8-plus athletes choose a training group; the options include endurance/middle distance groups, sprint-based groups, technical event groups and a multi-event group. Most groups train on Tuesday and Thursday from 18:30, although some train at other times and coaches discuss this with new members. There may be waiting lists for particular groups as membership levels are high in some. New members email the club's membership address (address hidden behind spam protection on the site) giving their name, school year if applicable, and the events they are interested in. A free two-week trial membership is offered to those too old for the junior Beagles groups or who already know their event; subscription costs after the trial are given on request by email. The club fields teams in the Southern Athletics League and Eastern Masters Track & Field League, competes in National, Southern and County Cross Country Championships and the Chiltern Cross Country League, and its road runners take part in local road races and the National and Southern Road Relays.
