Run club in Ashford
Ashford & District Road Running Club is a volunteer-run community running club in Ashford, Kent, established in 1988 and open to adults aged 18 and over. It accepts runners of all abilities, from beginners to experienced competitors, and covers a range of distances. Evening sessions start from the club HQ at Sandyacres Sports & Social Club in Kennington, with a coached track session at Julie Rose Stadium on Wednesdays.
Weekly running sessions are Monday hill training at a location that varies each week, Tuesday organised easy/gentle run, Wednesday coached track session at Julie Rose Stadium, Thursday organised group runs at pre-determined paces, plus a weekend morning long run for those able to cover the set distance. All weekday sessions are stated as suitable for all levels; a free runner-specific strength and conditioning session also runs on Tuesdays. The club has qualified coaches (CiRF/LiRF) who can advise on training plans. Changing facilities and showers are available at the clubhouse on Tuesday and Thursday and at Julie Rose Stadium on Wednesday, with a bar open on Thursdays. Annual membership is £65 affiliated (including England Athletics registration), £42 second claim and £42 un-affiliated; England Athletics registration costs £19 and can be added at online checkout. Membership is required to train and compete, but prospective members can arrange a trial session first by contacting the club through the website contact form. The club also organises the Girlings Ashford & District RRC 10 and 5 Mile and the Pacific Ashford 10k, and runs a member grand prix series of local races. England Athletics affiliated club.
